LIFE SCIENCES

Our Life Sciences practice consists of highly specialized lawyers, who, drawing on the firm’s expertise across regulated industries, public law and corporate/M&A, guide multinational and domestic clients through regulatory compliance, transactions and disputes, among other life sciences and healthcare matters.

We have significant experience offering clients from the life sciences industry a comprehensive and fully integrated approach. We partner with our regular clients –mostly global companies doing business in Peru– to resolve a wide range of issues, such as pharmaceutical and sanitary regulation for commercial activities across several industries, that involve chemical, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and sanitary products (such as disinfectants or care products), food and beverages, and medical devices. Our practice also focuses on representing companies before government agencies for permitting or for challenging before courts unfavorable administrative decisions.

Our team helps clients from the agroindustry sector with different types of products and across several economic activities, such as processing, export and commercialization.

As one of the few firms in Peru with the resources and breadth of knowledge necessary to expertly handle large M&A deals and litigation, Miranda & Amado has participated in due diligence processes demanding deep expertise in life sciences regulatory matters.

Our firm boasts an impressive roster of national and international clients. In particular, our significant client base spreads across the following sectors:

  • Clinical

  • We guided Estudios Técnicos on healthcare emergency matters, specifically on compliance with the statutory provisions aimed at mitigating and preventing the spread of COVID-19 in the workplace. Estudios Técnicos is a Colombian company that provides preservation, custody and maintenance services to the assets of the Gasoducto Sur Peruano gas pipeline project, under an agreement executed with Peru’s Supervisory Agency for Investment in Energy and Mining (Osinergmin).
  • We counsel Natura Cosmeticos in identifying all its relevant and material obligations as a pharmaceutical industry company, considering activities such as: (i) import and marketing of cosmetic products; (ii) import and marketing of absorbent sanitary products; and (iii) import and marketing of toys. The scope of our assessment includes analyzing both Peruvian and Andean region pharmaceutical regulations with a focus on cosmetics and absorbent sanitary products.
  • Our Firm has partnered with Gomez-Pinzon (Colombian Firm) to provide legal advice to international companies interested in undertaking business in the Peruvian food industry. Our assessment focuses on: (i) label requirements to modify the information (substantial and non-substantial) reported to the General Directorate for Environmental Health (DIGESA) for marketing a specific product across all Andean region countries; and (ii) legal and technical requirements to obtain the sanitary registration of sugar.
  • We advise Roche Pharma in defining the scope of possible information requests made by different public entities, including those related to pharmaceutical matters within the competence of the General Directorate for Medicines, Supplies and Drugs (DIGEMID).
