Leading Legal Alliance in Latin America Affinitas hosts First Regional Labor Event in Peru

Affinitas, an alliance of legal law firms of which Miranda & Amado is a member, hosted its first regional labor event in Peru entitled “Work Relations in the Pacific Alliance: Reality and Best Practices.”  The event featured a distinguished panel of experts specializing in labor matters from all Pacific Alliance member states.

Renato Mejía, a partner at Miranda & Amado, was invited to participate in the event alongside prominent international lawyers members of the Affinitas network, namely: Juan Cristóbal Iturrate (Barros & Errázuriz of Chile), Patricia Vergara (Gómez – Pinzón Zuleta of Colombia) and Claudio Jiménez de León (Mijares, Angoitia, Cortés y Fuentes of México).

The specialists explained how key labor issues are regulated and addressed in each of their countries, examined the main difficulties companies are currently facing regarding labor management, and discussed the best practices used by Colombian, Chilean, Mexican and Peruvian companies.

During the event, the panelists analyzed and compared work flexibility in all four countries regarding labor issues such as hindrance to hiring; rigidity of hours, stability, collective relations management, and current trade union trends.

All four participants agreed that the best labor practices include the following aspects:

  1. Strategic and Preventative Human Resources Management
  2. Raising Awareness
  3. Attention to Work Reputation
  4. Compliance with Regulations
  5. Labor Dispute and Risk Management

“We are proud of having helped organize Affinitas’ first labor event in the region and of having had the participation of specialists from all four Alliance countries who were able to share their experience.  They have given us great insight on how to improve client management,” said Renato Mejía.

The Affinitas Labor practice group is made up of 59 highly qualified lawyers specialists in labor consulting, litigation, labor dispute management and prevention, arbitration, and collective bargaining.
